| It is Castlehead's belief that all parties involved in caring (the resident,
family and care staff) should experience relationships that promote a sense
of: |
Security – feeling safe within relationships |
Belonging – feeling 'part' of things |
Continuity – experiencing links and consistency |
Purpose – having a personally valuable goal or goals |
Achievement – making progress towards a desired goal or goals |
Significance – feeling that 'you' matter |

Castlehead Managers and Care Staff will ensure residents are valued,
respected and involved in decision making by: |
| |
Demonstrating sensitivity to the needs of residents, respecting their strengths and values related to their age, culture, spiritual and religious beliefs and their ethnicity and gender. |
| |
Engaging with residents to understand their values and aspirations. |
| |
Working alongside residents in a way that maximises autonomy in day-to-day living and enables them to exercise rights and choices. Staff will not make assumptions about what is best for residents. |
| |
Recognising and taking steps to address the impact of social isolation on resident's quality of life, health and well-being |
| |
Recognising practice that may compromise the resident's dignity and respect, and taking steps to challenge and address them. |
