| Health |
 |
| Nursing and care staff are always on duty to plan and supervise our residents care, ensuring the highest standards at all times. The Home has an excellent relationship with the local GP practice, Social Work Department, Community Psychiatric Nurses and pharmacists when required |
 |
| Activities: |
 |
| Castlehead provides good quality care that incorporates meaningful activities that are effective in enhancing the quality of life of all residents. Participation in meaningful activities increases self-confidence, self-esteem and social interactions. |
|
|
| Castlehead staff will develop and maintain an activity culture in which residents will be seen participating in a variety of leisure and daily interests. Staff will ensure that activity is integral to care and not seen as an optional extra. |
| |
| Managers and staff will ensure the provision of meaningful activities by: |
| |
| Asking residents about their interests rather than approaching activity planning with their own assumptions and by asking open-ended questions about what they enjoy to find out what they like doing. Care staff will make sure residents are aware of the scope and range of activities available and that they understand the importance of the day-to-day activities that impact on their quality of life in addition to hobbies/leisure/crafts. |
| |
| Participation |
| |
| A Participation Strategy is in place for residents and their families and aims to help Castlehead to develop a more consistent approach to user participation. |
